I am from Kerala and i live in Singapore - and i can tell you - ayurveda is about healing treatments and is not so much about relaxation. In fact the authentic ayurvedic centers in Kerala will not even admit someone unless you genuinely have a medical problem they think they can help you with ! All the so called ayurvedic centers that have sprung up in India recently are far from genuine and are more about making a quick buck !
Hope if you ever get around to visiting India again...that you experience the "real deal" in terms of ayurveda :)

Awww, I'm glad you got over your grumpiness. I was just telling Jay the other day that I want to ride a dune buggy one day! I'll probably have to get over my fear of roller coasters too. Ever since Space Mountain at Disneyland I have yet gone back on a coaster...and that was over 15 years ago. More food blogs please! :)

When Battersea stopped producing power, there were many plans for it's redevelopment, Hotels, theme parks, museums etc. etc. however being both a listed (legally protected) building and an iconic piece of London's riverscape most were not considered appropriate. Since then there have been at least three plans accepted,started and then abandoned, the site is now used for concerts and sporting events but the shell of the old power station is not safe for use, and need developing. I believe that Londoners will not let this wonderfull building disintegrate, but I just can't see who will come up with the money now.

Hi Violet,

I am also a Canadian who has traveled in India, and I write an India travel blog.

Overall, I think newbies to India could benefit from reading your tips, but I have to admit I felt a bit depressed by the end. There seems to be a context of "us and them" that never gets crossed. Also, you seem to assume everyone who travels to India will have the same experience as you.

I certainly didn't; I had a very different experience. I found India to be a very beautiful place, full of kind and helpful people. I found the spiritual aspect to be powerfully healing. I went to a gorgeous, modern and spanking clean private clinic/hospital in Delhi - better than anything I've seen in Canada.

People in India are just that - people. If you just take the time to try and understand their point of view and connect with them, a lot of perceived difficulties will disappear.

It has helped me a lot to study yoga while in India - it has helped me to let go of judgment and to go with the flow. And those are my best pieces of advice. The only thing to fear is within.

But with those cautions, I think your tips are very useful, and I will link to your blog from BreatheDreamGo.com

I happened upon Wreck Beach by accident when I first moved out to BC and it caught me off guard for sure. I actually felt uncomfortable because I WAS wearing clothing.

Yeah... The helth board shut down most of the vendors... Norman's was up and running yesterday but just with dogs and smokies and sundry items. No poutine yet this year, but Mojito Girl was down there yesterday and Watermelon was flocking all manner of mind altering yet flavourful goodies! I love that beach so much and your post really nailed the vibe. See you this weekend!

I'm not sure what the dealio is this year but last year Normans only had smokies, pop, Gatorade, ciggies, chips and umbrellas.

Apparently they had their 'meat vending' license revoked.

Hope they got it back for 2010. Are they still in business on the drive?
